Support In The Arun District
A warm welcome from the Arun Team at Carers Support West Sussex. Our friendly and dedicated team are here to provide information, guidance, and support in your caring role. We also want to find ways for you to better manage your caring role while looking after your own health and wellbeing. If you would like to talk to one of the team, contact us to book into one of our dedicated phone surgeries and chose a date and time suitable to you.
Local Groups and Events
You can meet a member of our team for a face-to-face chat at one of our carer clinics. These offer an opportunity for you to meet in a private and safe environment to chat about how we can support you in your caring role. Please get in touch with us by emailing arun@cswebdev.blueboxonline.co.uk to agree a suitable time for you to come and chat with us.
Carer Groups
You can also meet a member of our team for a face-to-face chat at one of our carer groups. Our groups are open to people registered with us, to meet and chat with other carers and to access information and support from one of our local carer wellbeing workers.

Prevention & Assessment Team (PAT)
A multi-agency, multidisciplinary teams delivering a preventive service across West Sussex. The team includes health advisors (qualified health professionals); social care workers and support workers from the voluntary sector who can advise over the telephone or come and see you in your own home. Their objective is to improve quality of life and the promotion of health and wellbeing.
Their service is for adults and older people who might not be eligible for other statutory services and who have unmet physical, psychological, social, functional and/or environmental needs.
Are a team of health professionals who aim to promote the health and wellbeing of carers. They are a free service provided by Sussex Community NHS Trust providing support for carers over the age of 18 registered with a West Sussex GP. We work directly with carers and will develop individual strategies for each carer with an aim to reduce the strain of coping with their caring role. They may, if it is necessary, also look at the health needs of the person who is being cared for.
Healthwatch is your health and social care champion. If you use GPs and hospitals, dentists, pharmacies, care homes or other support services, we want to hear about your experiences. As an independent
statutory body, we have the power to make sure NHS leaders and other decision makers listen to your feedback and improve standards of care. Last year we helped nearly a million people like you to have your say and get the information and advice you need.
Over 65+ Many people experience social isolation, and this impacts their mental health and well-being. This service helps people over 65 in Bognor, Chichester, Lancing, Southwick and surrounding areas who are feeling low, have depression, anxiety or other mental health needs, especially if they are isolated.
Work with you to improve your welfare and wellbeing, reduce your risk of domestic abuse and support your recovery, and help you reach your goals for employment, education or training. Open to all women who recognise themselves as `vulnerable`.

"Having space to offload 1:1 is so helpful. I had support from a worker, and I called her ‘The Carer’s Carer’ as she was genuinely interested and helped me in the early years of my caring journey."
Anonymous Carer
Carer Consultation Group
"Caring can be isolating but joining carers support brings you a community of understanding individuals where you gain opportunities for support, friendship, activities and you learn to value yourself more! Take that step for your well-being and for your loved one and join Carers Support! "
Sue
A Carer from a Carer Group
"I found talking to a wellbeing worker reassuring and knowing there was help for me if I needed it made me feel better and not alone. All the information has been valuable and has reassured me and put my mind at rest. "
Alex
Had support from response line
"After my husband was discharged from Worthing Hospital and I was referred to Carers Support, my life has become easier. Your organisation has been marvellous. Weekly phone calls from a very understanding lady who put us forward for funding. And we certainly appreciate it. It will just make turning on the central heating a lot ‘easier’ now that Ron isn’t so mobile and help towards the incontinence pants. The most important point is that everything you have done has been efficient, organised speedily and with understanding and kindness. "
Angela
Support from the Home After Hospital team
"Oh yes counselling has helped! I was going round and round in my life. I have lots of friends to talk to but it’s been important to have someone from outside who doesn’t know me. It’s been life changing. My counsellor has been amazing."
