As a carer, we know how hard it can be to find the time to focus on some self-care so for Self-Care Week 2023, where the theme is Mind & Body, we wanted to give you a few easy ideas to help you indulge in some much needed self-love.
- Mindful Morning: Start your day with positivity. Setting aside 5-15 minutes of calm every morning to practice deep breathing, journaling or indulging in that first cup of tea or coffee can set the tone for a peaceful and centred day.
- Digital Detox: In this day and age it is becoming increasingly difficult to escape technology. But giving yourself the time to unplug and unwind could not only give your eyes a rest but give your mind a rest too. Instead of using your devices why not spend some time outside, read or book or pick up one of your hobbies?
- Movement: Physical activity releases endorphins which act as the body’s natural stress relievers, leaving you feeling refreshed and energised. Simple stretches, a walk or maybe a dance class – whatever you find interesting to get yourself moving.
- Social Connections: Whether it’s a virtual catch-up or an in-person gathering, surround yourself with positive energy. Strong social bonds contribute significantly to mental and emotional well-being. Carers Support has a number of in-person and virtual support groups, visit our events page to find one for you.
